Riddle of the Sands
Published in 1903, Erskine Childers's The Riddle of the Sands predicted the threat of war with Germany and was so prescient in its identification of the British coast's defensive weaknesses that it influenced the siting of new naval bases. The writing is gripping and it's a marvel that Childers manages to make the minutiae of sailing and navigation so engrossing. Although Riddle was an instant bestseller, Childers never wrote another novel, concentrating instead on military strategy manuals before entering politics and eventually becoming a fervent Irish nationalist.
Apache revolver
An Apache revolver is a handgun which incorporates multiple other weapons, made notorious by the French underworld figures of the early 1900s. Due to the lack of a barrel, the revolver's effective range is very limited, but since all of its component parts can be folded inward towards the cylinder, it was easily concealable inside a pocket.
Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee
The Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee was a unique direct-lift rotor aircraft, using contra-rotating ducted fans for lift inside a platform upon which the single pilot shifted body weight for directional control. The platform was developed starting in 1953 and flew successfully beginning in 1955.

Simo Häyhä, nicknamed "White Death" by the Red Army, was a Finnish sharpshooter. Using a standard iron-sighted, bolt action rifle in the Winter War, he has the highest recorded number (505) of confirmed kills in any major war.
WASP knife
Wasp Knife is a tradename for a large knife that contains a cylinder of compressed gas in the hilt. When stabbing a subject about one cubic foot of gas (or 800 psi) is rapidly injected deep into the wound site. The injected gas causes much more damage than a single knife wound, both from the displacement of internal organs and from the freezing effect of the free expansion of the gas.
Darra Adam Khel
Darra Adam Khel is a town in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. The town consists of one main street lined with shops, with some alleys and side streets containing workshops. Darra Adam Khel is devoted entirely to the production of weapons. In Darra, almost three-fourths of the people are in the gun trade. Pen pistols and walking stick guns are popular here, but heavier ordinances like anti-aircraft guns are also manufactured. Around 400-700 guns are made in Darra each day and the number is rising with the adoption of more tools.

The Army Corps of Engineers supervised the excavation of Cheyenne Mountain and the construction of an operational center within the granite mountain.

Archerfish are known for their habit of preying on land based insects and other small animals by literally shooting them down with water droplets from their specialized mouths.
