The standard-winged nightjar is a striking member of the Caprimulgidae family, found in central Africa’s dry savannahs. During breeding season, the male develops specialized wing feathers, reaching up to 38 cm, with bare shafts and feather plumes. These feathers are used in flight displays to attract females.
