Singing sand refers to sand that produces sound, typically caused by either wind passing over dunes or by the act of walking on the sand. Several conditions must align to create this phenomenon: the sand grains must be round and fall within a specific diameter range of 0.1 to 0.5 mm, the sand must contain silica, and it must reach a certain level of humidity. The most commonly emitted frequency is around 450 Hz.
