Margaret Cavendish

Margaret Cavendish was an English aristocrat and a prolific writer. In her memoir, Cavendish expresses that she enjoyed inventing herself through fashion. She states that she aimed for uniqueness in her dress, thoughts and behaviour, and remarks that she disliked wearing the same fashions as other women. She also expresses her desire to achieve fame. Several passages of her memoir remark upon her virtuous character, and she states that while she acknowledges the goodness in others, she thinks it acceptable that she should hope to be better than they are.

Perverse Preachers, Fascist Fundamentalists, and Kristian Kiddie Kooks

This documentary focuses on the subculture known as television evangelists. Shown are clips from their programs, interviews with them from news programs and events, and also incidents when they said or did things and didn't know a camera or microphone was on them, along with other embarrassing moments.

Gustave Baumann

Gustave Baumann was a master of woodcuts and marionette-making, also producing oils and sculpture. His work depicted southwestern landscapes, ancient Indian petroglyphs, scenes of Pueblo life, and gardens and orchards.

Acid brass

Acid brass was a musical collaboration between Turner-Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and the Williams Fairey Brass Band. The project was based on fusing the music of a traditional brass band with acid house and Detroit techno.

Lord Lucan

Lord Lucan was a British peer suspected of murder who disappeared in 1974. Once considered for the role of James Bond in the cinematic adaptations of Ian Fleming's novels, Lucan was known for his expensive tastes; he raced powerboats and drove an Aston Martin. On the evening of 7 November 1974, his children's nanny, Sandra Rivett, was bludgeoned to death in the basement of the Lucan family home. As the police began their murder investigation, Lucan telephoned his mother, asking her to collect the children, and then drove a borrowed Ford Corsair to a friend's house in Uckfield, East Sussex. Hours later, he left the property and vanished without trace.

Udumbara

The udumbara flower is said in Buddhist legend to bloom only once every 3,000 years, the last time being before the birth of Buddha.

Kronenhalle

Kronenhalle is a legendary restaurant in Zurich. Thomas Mann liked the red room - it reminded him of a German luxury ship. Braque and Miro sat around the tables, and they hang on the walls; Picasso, too. But the most devoted habitue, the one whose regular seat everyone asks to see, if not sit in, was James Joyce. ''Joyce lived here for eight years,'' says Gustav Zumsteg, Hulda's son and the Kronenhalle's owner. ''He came here every day. And he left this place to die.''
